Coach's Notes: I LOVE this family! The energy they bring is always welcome and everyone always has a fun time when they are around. I have witnessed all 3 make huge improvements in their fitness and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. whether its starting the day at 6AM or ending it at 7PM, They are always smiling, encouraging their classmates, and going hard in the WODs. I've seen them hit muscle-ups, move ridiculous weight, and take their new-found fitness out on the road (and trails).  Thank you all for showing exactly what it means to be #builtbyCFTO and as always, thank you for making our place better.   - Coach Jeremy

Estevez Family

Fernando (Sr.), Anarosa, and Fernando (Jr.)

As a family, we have always enjoyed physical activity. We had gym memberships, personal coaches, or participated in some team activity. Yet, life and work took a toll on our fitness.

The CrossFit it journey started with Fernando Sr. Fernando had been working out using P90X and Insanity with fairly good results. Unfortunately, he was transferred to a different job location and he felt he needed a change in his fitness routine. That is how he found CrossFit Thousand Oaks. He wanted a place he could go early in the morning or go after work on his way home. He started his CrossFit journey and he was 100% hooked. Watching him become so enthusiastic about training made me curious about the benefits of CrossFit.

I (Anarosa) had participated in boot camp activities for two years with good results. With that group, we started doing Spartan Races. Last year, my goal was to complete a trifecta. In October I was participating in the Spartan Beast when I passed out from heat exhaustion. After that experience I was determined to complete a Spartan trifecta in 2017. Fernando, my husband did his first Spartan race that same day and completed it with no problems. He told me that CrossFit would help increase my stamina and my strength so I joined. However, what I found is that CrossFit concentrates on doing the physical movements correctly. As an older woman, who worries about injuries, I find this to be liberating. I feel I progress and get stronger every day. In addition, I have found a new group of positive people who I admire, respect and enjoy working out with. As a result, was able to complete my Spartan Trifecta last year.

Our son Fernando Jr. joined mid 2017 after his dad challenged him. Fernando Jr. had been a high school athlete, but after high school he stopped working out. He wanted to start working out again and challenged by his father, he decided to join CrossFit Thousand Oaks. Fernando Jr. finds CrossFit challenging and it motivates him to do better.

As a family, we feel stronger, healthier, and closer as we pursue our individual fitness goals. We are very appreciative of the support, the instruction, and the encouragement that we receive from each one of the coaches at CFTO.
